window into another culture

collections of past history, canadian culture is a meshing of many different events, stories, customs, religions, experiences and memories. it is our connection to nature and trying to find our place for family and friends that make us who we are.

gun antlers-wax

a rubber mold was made of 2 toy guns from the 1950s, (see previous blog)
one of which belonged to my father.
i then cast them out of wax, cut them up and reassembled them to create these antlers.

it became somewhat disturbing and comments on the use of guns as toys, the actual use of pistols and their intent, hunting and sport with guns, violence and trophy culture.

i placed them on plaques and hung them into this large window box i made from an old window i found in an alley here in halifax NS.

rubber board

Cast in rubber...attached wheels and trucks to bring it to life. It can do the worm!

skateboard project

I saved all the drilled hole shavings from the first project, and all of the broken drill bits (approx. 20) and cast them into a cast of the first board with a clear resin.

kind of looks like a big fruit roll up since the core of the board was red.
