Gray's Park annual Picnic- mask making

I was asked to make a craft with the kids for the annual park day and I chose to make mascarade masks. I freehand drew and cut out 100 and attached ribbons to them.

The kids chose their mask and then we made sure it fit them properly.

They were decorated with crayons, markers, stickers, feathers, glitter, and sequins. Then the wore them around the park while watching music and eating hotdogs.
This guy was very creative! Lots of work put into that mask. Here are a few more...
It was a fun day and a fun project.

Last summer Art in the Park August 14th 2013

Our final project was to make owls out of recycled glass jars. I had various sizes and shapes. We used bits of fabric samples, google eyes, glue dots and rubber cement, pipe cleaners and feathers. They turned out quite cute.
This lil guy even got feet and a branch! We filled them up with bird seed and the kids can feed the birds come the fall and winter months.
I loved how each feather was cut out of fabric on this one, and his pipe cleaner feet. Andrew was at every Art in the Park session. It was great to have him.
These girls had their own ideas and created creatures with pompoms. Was a quieter day and it ended off with some rain. That concludes this session. I hope to plan some more fun crafty things in the fall and winter months. Thanks Gray's park and Little Mountain Neighbourhood Small Grant fund for making this happen.

Art in the Park- part 3- nature monsters

Another beautiful day in Gray's park! We made monsters from branches, pine cones, glue, google eyes, pipe cleaners, bark, moss and Popsicle sticks.

There were some pretty magical monsters and creative little people!
Here are just a few more of the finished little guys.
