Hands

I always seem to come back to hands. These are made from a cast of a hand from a cowboy toy from the 'Best in the West' series created in 1973. Here is a bit of the process to the finished pieces.

making the mold using a silicone based product.
the pink hands are wax injections from the mold, now making multiples to get cast in silver and bronze.
the raw metal hands ready for finishing

and the polished bronze and silver hands now completed.

Metal Model Army Motorbikes

The raw metal after being casted. Now it is all polished up and the helmets are shaped.

Some mini army model motorbike pendants cast in silver and bronze. I found the original in the model shop in Halifax, Nova Scotia that I frequented looking for inspiration and supplies for sculpture building.

Creative Remix Art Camp 2.0 at Roundhouse 2014

This was a one week creative arts camp in July for children aged of 7-10 years. Caroline Liffman conducted Dance offs and freeze dance games. Stella ella ola is still ringing in the faint distance of my memories. These kids were great. They made puppets, danced hip-hop, participated in drawing and body movement, and went on a field trip to the Vancouver Art Gallery to see the Douglas Coupland exhibit. They made music with all sorts of percussion instruments and well, I documented a lot of it. These were my favorite moments.

Cast Vintage Motorbike toys

Silver and Bronze Motorbikes cast from plastic vintage toys

Cast vintage toys is my new line of jewellery which started with these vintage motorbikes that were probably dime store finds from the seventies. I collected a few styles one is this old honda looking style and the other is a chopper style. I casted the wheels and the body separately, had molds made and then had them cast in silver and bronze. After reassembly and some filing/polishing they have fully functioning wheels! They will be available in a limited quantity.
