Creative Remix - Art Camp 2015

This year of creative remix was fun, and inspiring. The children had the chance to interact with 7 artists in various backgrounds and artistic disciplines from photography to dance to music making. These are a few of our highlights from the camp of 2015.

We had pin-hole cameras made for us out of aluminum cans and tinfoil. The photos were developed and turned out really interesting. We had to stay very still for 90 seconds in order to be in focus.

We made a trip to the Vancouver Art Gallery and made collages based on the Geoffry Farmer exhibit. They were all so awesome it is hard to choose which one to post.

We had Kim the wonderful hip-hop artist come in and teach us the different ways to dance. One of the children did an illustration (below) to show all the groups and styles of hip-hop.

We made a song with Lee and learned about making tracks with overlapping recordings. We played the song for the parents when they came to the Art viewing on our last day alongside a photo and video montage of the week.

We hand sewed in pages and made books! We also did a comic workshop and made our own comic strip. Some of the children then decorated their handmade books like their comics.
