JELLYFISH - Make It Monday at Roundhouse Community Centre - September 2015

The Jellyfish tree was where the wet painted projects hung for about half an hour as the children played outside enjoying the last days of summer.

Using an assortment of yarns we weaved them into holes in a paper plate to make the tentacles.

Weaving the yarn in and out of the holes we used about 16 half metre pieces per jellyfish, one piece just goes in and out using 2 holes and leaving the yarn to dangle.

Once the plate was ready with all of its tentacles the head (a white cotton circle) was glue gunned on top with a piece of fishing line tied through to hang the jellyfish. Now they are ready to paint.

Here he have a close up of the tops of the jellys. They did some neat patterns with the paint.

We painted the tops with fluorescent pink, orange and yellow acrylic paint, as well as glow in the dark. Then we sprinkled it with clear glitter to add a shimmer!

As the sun set the jellyfish danced and they looked rather magnificent.
